In California, 53% of fourth graders read below national grade level. We want to change that statistic - one kid at a time. Our goal is to give every California third-grader one of the most valuable tools for reading, a dictionary. Our non-profit organization, funded and staffed entirely by volunteers, is actively seeking donations of time and money for this mission. Please help us in this important first step toward increased literacy for California public school children!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!

We need your help getting dictionaries into the hands of Oakland students! We are looking for volunteers to go into Oakland schools, present the dictionaries to the kids, and spend about 30 minutes or so conducting a dictionary lesson. A script will be provided.Two volunteers per classroom is ideal, but one works too.

We will contact the principal and arrange for the delivery of the dictionaries to the principal's office. CDP will work with you and the school to schedule a time for you to distribute the books to the third grade classrooms.

The dictionary distributions will start immediately after Thanksgiving and continue into the next semester.
