Our organization
was founded by an independent group of volunteers and entrepreneurs,
mainly professionals from the legal, financial, and technology fields.
Mirroring the business model of a technology start-up, we extend our
reach and services by working with a wide variety of donors, sponsors,
and partners. California Dictionary Project's mission is to donate and distribute a dictionary to every third-grade public school student in California, annually. We focus on low-performing school districts in the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. Founded in 2002, we're an all-volunteer organization. Our immediate need is for someone to help us build our donor base and work with us to develop other fundraising opportunities. No matter where you're based in the Bay Area, if you love dictionaries, work well online, and want to help build childhood literacy, we would love to hear from you. Thank you!
